TEXICAN STOWAWAY

ONE HAPPY PUPPY:
Former University of Nevada, Reno first lady Joy Crowley passed along this good news story.

Last week, she and husband, Joe, the former longtime president of UNR, were returning to Reno from vacation in Ireland and one of their connecting flights put them at Dallas-Fort Worth Airport just in time for a massive lightning storm and tornado warning that would keep their plane waiting on the tarmac for four hours.
Also on the plane, and in seats near the Crowleys, were U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Gregg Zive and his wife LuAnn, both of Reno, and members of the band Los Lonely Boys, who happened to be on their way to Sparks for a performance at John Ascuaga's Nugget. With several hours to pass, they all shared friendly conversations.
As they waited on the tarmac, Joy Crowley couldn't help but hear one of the band members making several serious-sounding phone calls to his mother.
When the plane finally arrived in Reno several hours later, the passengers made their way to baggage claim, where Crowley observed one of the band members retrieve a large suitcase and open it immediately. Out of it popped a small brown-and-white chihuahua.
"One of the guys said, 'Oh my goodness! We had been looking at home all day for her,'" Crowley said.
Apparently, the tiny dog had stowed away in the suitcase, unbeknownst to its owner, who had been calling his mother multiple times to see if the dog had been located.
"She was just fine," said Crowely, who couldn't help but smile as the musician walked from the airport with the dog snuggled under his chin, licking his face.
"I thought what a sweet thing to see happening," she said. "No wonder they were calling their mom."
